(A poem)

Isn't this piece so beautiful? it's by Mandy Budan

I make my way

To my favorite walk

From my favorite street

To my favorite dock

The winds are strong amidst the wen

It’s October once again

I kick a leaf from its sodden spot

A browned crack erupts from rot

A truck pulls slowly through the lot

A rat slinks softly cross a pot

One day the weather rounds the bend

Now it’s October once again

The pumpkins creep

Along the stoop

Each one vying

For its favorite roost

Bold

And simmering with change

Autumn sheds her leaves again

The air is stiff

Our bodies cold

Insidious frost

Creeps up our nodes

The spirits lurk

The dead they loom

It seems October

Is now in bloom

I sink my eyes

Into the roiling skies

And say a prayer

Before I die

The winds are strong amidst the wen

It's October once again
