i asked the ocean
why she never grows weary
of the waves
that drown
voices and people and fears
in a quick motion.
she said she does.
i asked her
of her perfect face
and what she hides beneath
her ocean bed.
she has skeletons, too -
like me
and bottles with words
and silent screams
and a whole world of glistening coral.
she says you’d never know
just by looking.
but my soul searches for her
in the diamonds that glisten
on her caps
and the foam of her mouth
when she kisses the shore,
in her volatile sweep
as she rises -
then falls.
i look for me
in her reflection
submerged in her depths.

really loved this one!
The first few lines of this are so soft yet powerful. Perfectly sets the reflecting, somber tone of the rest of the poem. Loved this!
