Numb

poem

Numb:

the hollow sting

like a paper cut

as the ashes are sifted

with such tender grace

you think it could be bliss

the winds blow

and end you away

more pieces spred out

more lost from the pile

more dreams

of lovely grey

a dream

where

it can be numb

for a while

a place

where the splendor

and color are bled

from the memories

a time you wish you

could never wake from

a moment

where it doesn't hurt

the splendor

unsoured by pain

is never there

just a fog of nothingness

not even air

and you long

to make it last forever

like a smell

once on your sweater

kept over your pillow

fade away

a memomory of grey

a melody upon

heart strings, so numb

heard day by day

and they say

life's just begun

while it feels over

and final

as the winds fade away

To yourself

you're lying

as your soul

sits there crying

darkness denying

but no longer trying

Dead and dying

Awake I'm trying

Looking forth

through valley horizons

Above the clouds mountain tops

Free falling, vertical drop

solidly grounded

running the world

from one spot

See me there

I'm gone

lost and found

unclaimed

gathering dust

Don't want to be sane

So tired

There's never a dream

the pain's so numb

soaking the sun

missing the moon

everyone just

living for themselves

having fun

foolishly lavish

wishing myself away

there's nothing left to say
