jazz in autumn wears a disguise
sunshine cloaked brass notes
wailing in rooms that glow in indigo hues
momentarily illuminatin
shudderin crescendos
souls who sleep snugglin on Sunday mornings
into afternoons are brunch bondin
but before biscuits, butter and marmalade are shared
coffee is sipped like the secret brews of their ancestors
as they speak in tongues
smiles and giggles scat affirmations
whispered into collarbones
create lyrics under blankets warmed by true Love
Coltrane and honesty
whoever called jazz cool
never crooned with …you
never tasted buttered marmalade kisses
under down quilts
blockin autumn breezes
sneakin through the window
left open after the lovemaking
