At night,

The lights bright,

Walking through Main Street,

Downtown Richmond,

The River District,

Is beautiful,

The Capital of our Commonwealth,

Is a city to dream of,

The lights gleam on the James,

The rushing waters,

I hope can be tame,

Shockoe is illumined,

So is the canal,

The district is alive,

With a vibrant view,

The lights I wish,

Would have different hues,

The streets often busy,

When the sun takes a dive,

It is usually,

After the clock strikes five,

People coming and going,

Up and down Main Street,

I smile,

As I walk down the way,

Thinking about the James River,

Oh how neat,

If you visit Richmond,

Walk down Main Street,

See the city,

With a lively beat.
