Night layers

A poem on feeling in the dark

Just the other day I felt on top of the world

I had hacked the Universe

inspired to take action

in awe of the magic that is life

Then there are days like today,

the sky is bright and the birds sing

However, I feel blanketed by a darkness

One I can't see but weighs so heavy

Alone and alienated

Seeking something lost

The spark

Where did it go? Why did it leave so suddenly? Did I miss something?

That's when I realize I have shed another layer

Every layer is unique

Sometimes they are light and loving

Other times they feel adorned by rocks and thorns

Although terrifying, it's beautiful really

It serves as a reminder that the spark in which I seek is embedded within

The spark whispers,

while I walk journey forward, take time to come home

she never truly burns out but,

she shines brightest with your love and attention

So rest

This is a cue to hold space for yourself

Let your heart grieve the layers

You are alive

You are here

You have a magnificent capacity to feel

Sit with it

Let it be

Then you may proceed
