Night and slumber

The Slumber Coming on, Softly

Night and slumber:

The Slumber Coming on, Softly

The night descends, it softly covers all
The twinkle of stars, the calls of the cranes

The rustle of leaves, like a lullaby’s tone
An orchestra synched to each slumbering boneLayers of fog curl, like fingers of sleep

And gather around us, gently, deep
The twinkle of dream, that floats on a whim
As they entrance your eyes, and steal in your skin

Layers of fog curl, like fingers of sleep
And gather around us, gently, deep

The twinkle of dream, that floats on a whim
As they entrance your eyes, and steal in your skin

Athwart night mist, where the silence prevails
We surrender our senses, relax our frail

In tones of velvet we find the sweet pleasure
As our eyes close heavy, in deep slumber’s treasur

The night is young, when everyone’s asleep
The morning is far, and the star’s their keep

Our minds drift away to our own secret places
Thousands of miles away, but never vacant spaces

We drift in and out, of this trance like state
No worry or worry, for sleeping is fate

As morning light creeps, like a friend in the dark
We grab onto another night, another sweet start

Our slumber is divine, for we get sweet rest
For beneath the surface, it is our heart’s best

And when night descends, and all is hushed
We move from this world, and embrace sweet slumber, softly blushed.
