Nature

Untouched by word or deed

Sunshine filters through mighty oak

Dappled orange light

Shafts of light-filled with motes of dust

And insects taking flight.

*

A clear river flows below

Eddy’s and swirls in pure waters

Fish break the surface eating tasty morsels

Then gone like scuba divers.

*

Nature in its purest form

Untouched by word or deed

A place where no humans tread

Nor soil drilled alien seed.

*

Heaven on a smaller scale

Unsullied Mother Earth

No trees felled by unfeeling hand

Nor littered undergrowth.

*

Deer nibble here and there

Rabbit running free

Otter building homes in dams

Flowers kissed by bees.

*

Glory in a forest glade

The scent of pine and oak

Perfume pervades this place

Like sprinkled fairy dust.

*

If heaven were a place on earth

This would surely be

Nature in its purest form

Untouched by word or deed.
