I look out,

On the Nansemond,

Great river through Suffolk,

In boats you ride,

Hope never to see,

Any waves or tides,

You can sail,

You can fish,

Do whatever you wish,

When you come to Suffolk, Virginia,

Here it is fall,

You can have a ball,

Here is plenty of fish,

Eat as much as you wish,

Having fun on the river,

We are brave and bold,

I would love some shrimp,

Served a bit cold,

The Nansemond,

With its beauty to behold,

Walk the shores,

Here is a canoe,

With its large oars,

Rest assured,

When you visit,

Enjoy it,

There is one thing left to say,

The mighty Nansemond,

Is here to stay.
