My Final Letter
For you to feel as you feel right
Goodbye dearest, I know it be hard
So I wrote this letter for your breaking heart.
I know my time is coming soon
But your time is now to start.
I see that tear begin to form
And ask, darling, you let it roll.
Close your eyes and breathe in deep,
Allow your mind a gentle stroll.
The time when we walked as one
Through the paths of ancient Rome.
Together we fought the armies of old
Back to back and never alone.
How about the moment when the shooting star
Raced across us.
For that brief second we shared a wish
Sealed by the greatest first kiss.
The time in strife when panic leered
Yet we laughed it all away.
Hand in hand we stared it down
Until naught but peace could find its stay.
I know the time I saw your face;
When natural was when I learned.
That is the most beautiful you ever are,
The first time a fire burned.
I’ve never forgotten the most scared I’ve been
On one knee praying for a lifetime.
Your happy gasp and tears that fell
Saw mine begin.
That night, my love, you brought us whole
Cries of innocence our lives were dressed.
That raging fire burst from within
To keep evil from safety’s nest.
Seconds passed and we waved au revior
To our treasure on his early quest.
Though scared and hurt we may have been
We knew we had done our best.
Time friended us some gifted years
Stories left untold.
My darling our love was strong throughout
And devotion to us unsold.
We’ve laughed and lived and loved as one
So these times we shall not forget
But it is now your time that has begun
For my love shall leave no debt.
So close your eyes my darling
And breathe just one more time.
I’m going now and I love you so.
Remember, you’ll always be mine.
