Muddy Fields

A piece written half before and half after Harvey Weinstein’s conviction

" But his life has been ruined... "

" His reputation... "

" His career... "

" His family torn apart... "

But what about their lives?

Did anyone even ask if they were ok?

Did anyone ever think that their lives–

Their minds–

Their happiness–

Their sense of security,

Confidence,

Well-being,

In their own bodies might be not only ruined,

But utterly destroyed?

Apparently not.

Because a woman's "only purpose" is to

Carry children,

Cook,

Clean,

Sit still,

And look pretty–

Right?

WRONG.

Today, a bad man pays.

Today, a bad man has been put away,

Found guilty of his crimes

Because brave women

Who were able and ready said

" No more. "

They said

" I will not live in fear of this man.

" No more. "

It is one thing to be falsely accused,

But it is another to try and pay people off.

It's another to try and guilt people into letting you off.

If the shoe fits,

“Man up” and wear it.

Or better yet

“Woman up” and walk in those high,

Stiletto heels through the thick,

Muddy fields

That you made us crawl

Just for justice.
