It’s been a year since I left the shipwreck that I once called home.

When I was tossed out nothing made sense while I tried to balance the highs and lows.

Spent months thinking about what I had gone through in the rear-view mirror,

Mind was so muddled but now things are getting clearer.

Realize I don’t need to waste my time dwelling on people who see me as a mistake,

It’s time to move on and focus on the future for my own sake.

Because now I’ve found something that was always there,

Sometimes it just has to hurt before you can feel it.

You may lose your blood relatives and feel isolation,

But choosing family is the key to get out of that situation.

Turning your back and only focusing on the past causes blood shots,

An ensnared trap that one must veer away from being caught.

Affliction is a word one can only hope to avoid,

Yet offence is a choice we can decline to accept.

Some days will hurt a lot that you can be sure,

But our creator never gives us anything more than we can endure.
