I wish I could see you smile again .
Hear your whisper in my ear.
A shadow of memory haunts me at night
And in dreams, you still are near.
I have to let go, yet still I keep hope
I’ll someday see the sun in your hair.
I’ll hear your rough laugh that reaches your eyes
And be happy to have you there.
Yet wishes are dreams that won’t always come true ,
As we walk and meander through years.
Somethings will be. But others won’t be .
And we’ll heal ourselves through tears.
But holding head up and walking astride
I’ll face the new day with derision.
I’ll laugh at the memories held deep inside
And never will regret my decision.
