Mountain Landmark

Mt. Rainier

The Mountain

- Our Landmark -

broadly watches over us today

Lenticular clouds in front,

and a spaceship-lenticular

above its white glacier cap

Still spreading down the shoulders

is icing that will melt slowly under

heated summer skies

but return in winter,

slowly painting its shoulders

in frosty white blankets

#mtrainier #pnw #lenticularcloud

NOTE: I snapped the photo today with my iPhone. You can see the snow spreading downward but soon it will melt almost up to the cloud in front. The glacier on top remains year round (unless climate change melts it which would be sad). The lenticular clouds can give a clue to watch for high mountains.

This is a beautifully crafted piece that celebrates the wonder of the natural landscape. This poem is a stunning evocation of the majestic mountain that serves as a beloved landmark. The vivid imagery you've captured, from the lenticular clouds framing the peak to the melting and returning snow, paints a captivating picture of the mountain's ever-changing beauty and steadfast presence. The juxtaposition of the transient and the eternal elements is both poignant and thought-provoking, inviting us to contemplate the relationship between humanity and the natural world. Your keen eye for detail and ability to convey the mountain's enduring significance through your words are truly impressive. Loves!
