More Than A Memory

Day by day his power grows

More Than A Memory

Wrapping me in his loving arms

Showering me with care,

Painful memories are fading

Broken heart in need of repair.

***

His love has made me stronger

And by day his power grows,

He’s breaking down my walls

To allow my love to flow.

***

Many a tear I’ve wasted

On a lover that I’ve missed,

Pining over heartbreak

For the one I want to kiss.

***

He has now dried my tears

Soothing my pain away,

Pushing aside the memories

Of all my “yesterday’s”.

***

Although my past is fading

Causing faces to fade from view,

Sadly, he’ll never have the power

To ever stop me loving you.

***

Dreams continue to haunt me

The future we’d planned day by day,

His love may have filled my heart

But in my soul you’ll always stay.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
