Moral Demise

A Mantis Metaphor

I see you there helpless,

In this sea you are a defect.

Legs flailing, eyes wide,

no help to reject.

I should look for love, but,

It’s selfishness I find.

Rage and disgust overcome

Rational pieces of mind.

You are a simple creature,

a mantis of pure olive green.

a babe of innocent beauty,

Turned obscene.

The tide pulls you under,

Fear, I see it in your eyes.

My hands keep you under,

My moral demise.
