Advice for the fan out there

Words, Words, Words...

Hide the cover!

You don't want old ladies

and the nine-to-fivers that you see

every day

to wonder what you're doing

with something that has

that on display.

Put it away!

*

At least here you can read it

under the sheets

when the neighbours are

quiet and gone,

and maybe no cars are idling away on streets

waiting, pausing

on the horn

(at least it's not porn).

*

Couldn't finish it?

Well, at least you tried.

How many people can say

something wise

on paper that makes sense?

Not the nine-to-fivers;

Not the old ladies on the bus.

They ain't like us.

*

Um, y'know

when I said, ''Now try it,''

I thought, ''Just read another one.''

But, then again, you have all that

new stationery

you never really use...

And me?

Ha! What do I know?

At least get

something started...

if the bug has bit...

So now,

write it!

Animals being animals...

My, where do you get this stuff. Your head is a very interesting place to be in. Such a unique take on everything. Keep on being you K. Tis fun to see where you go next.

  • Oh this was so relatable! Loved your poem!

  • And now you write without fear or shame. Bravo, good sir!

This was super relatable. I have started and stopped writing three times this morning alone lol

  • Neat and punchy poem. The line "They ain't like us." made me think of the poem "We Real Cool."

This resonates. I have about 10 stories in the drafts that I started and can't finish for different reasons.

And that's why I always have a flashlight with me! (Also not to wear out the phone battery.) Good advice Kendall!
