osiris reflecting through the asphalt
gray sheets clinging to the firmament
imperceptible changes moving ever so slowly
waiting for the world to start again
waiting for the puddles to dry
and for the sky at once to be returned
to the sky

oceanus beckons from far beyond
thunderous swells clash against the cliffs
as the tide flows gently back in
watching for the bottled message
watching for the water rising high
and for the why at once to be answered
with another why
-
amaterasu rising in the waning darkness
illuminated paths streak across waves
capturing shadows in a spectacle of stars
wishing upon them like meteorites
wishing upon the acorn of an oak
and for the cloak of mystery to become
a warming cloak

The world can be tough. Sometimes being honest can make people take advantage of you while being too tricky can hurt you. The key is finding a balance. Sometimes it’s okay to play dumb to avoid trouble, but don’t be a pushover. Let people know you have limits and will stand up for yourself.

Death is a black hole. Think about it. A black hole is the corpse of a star, something once warm and bright, now come to the end of its life cycle. But some will argue that the cycle of life does not end with death. That death is merely another path we must walk once our bodies expire and our souls ascend. In that moment, when the fuel in the star’s chemical tank hits empty and the shiny matte coat explodes into supernova, the mass left behind – the corpse – becomes a black hole. We understand that, around such a vast cadaver, dimensions work a little differently in death to the way we’re used to in life. For example, light cannot escape the pull of a black hole when it hits the point of no return. That’s where it gets its colour. Space itself is contorted by a black hole. That’s where it gets its funny shape. Even time. Time slows right down the closer you get to it. The closer you get to a black hole. The closer you get to death.
