Mikveh

black stone carvings

By bishnu prasadPublished 6 months ago 1 min read

There is a cistern on the roof of the church, and there is a pipe in the wall leading to a small cistern under the stove.

There are two witnesses, one a teacher and the other a Jew.

They are women.

No one is pretending to be humble.

Naked, well-groomed,

there are no minerals in their skin,

they are waiting in the shade in the water pipe.

Everyone who is expelled from this world with their tongue.

Give enough soil to the palate

makes a stain

Not used to it

Soil eater suffocation

quieter than it should be.

No matter how loud the sound is, there is no one around.

Perhaps

there is a child somewhere

who will not know home

unless there is a fire.
