Midnight Conversations

Stream of Consciousness

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 2 years ago • Updated 2 years ago • 1 min read

How beautiful it was

Those conversations with the moon

When I surrendered my secrets, and he adopted them as his own

Time and again he greeted me, drawing me closer to feel his warmth, leaving me feeling hopeful

Reminding me of my youth, when I was happy, naive and contented in shadowed truths

Spoon-fed and full

Lingering in my contentment, reality entered

Swinging open the door that contained my fears

Now, life's pressures weigh on my mind, like an invisible gas

Seeping poison into the air I gulp

Straining, gasping to fill my lungs, unaware that I am speeding my demise

Now, the moon is shielded in a veil of my own making and I find myself alone - again
