What A Dream

I lie awake in bed at night -

and dream of what could be.

Of lovers past and memories,

and lovely twisted things.

*

Christmas bells and snowflakes,

packages displayed for all to see.

Gifts of love to show affection,

wrapped as lovely twisted things.

*

While carousels spin, music echoes,

a haunting tune plays on repeat.

A memory past, stirring feelings,

wishing for lovely twisted things.

*

Why do we wait to say what we feel,

a human fault - it seems.

Wasting time in daydreams,

about lovely twisted things.

*

One day I hope to find it,

escape these vivid dreams.

Living life wide open,

chasing those lovely twisted things.

*

The finish line will be a vision,

of colorful ribbons tied with string.

And I, will be the victor,

adorned with, lovely twisted things.
