I want to love you

The way I love the hot coals

Shoved under my feet

Underneath the blankets,

Burning and unforgettable.

But you want to love me

Like a dead bird,

Soft to the touch,

Cradled in your hands,

Unmoving.

Like a spectre.

Don't worry,

I'll be your ghost.
