Cover of the original book
Love in the time of cholera,
Is something cynical and strange
As you spill guts out in the street
Dehydration has its way
You are disgusting right now
But you do not disgust me, I now know
That love must be something truly strange
For me to not want to go
The people drop like flies
They shrivel up and die
Times are not good right now
Yet how persistent is this feeling!
For if love were a survival thing,
Like all of the experts say
Then would I want to be here right now?
Wouldn't I want to be miles away
Love in the time of cholera
Is proof that love is anything at all.
