Yellow Bowls And Jelly Rolls,
Gadgets and Gizmos As Seen On TV,
A Classic Rocking Horse,
As Sweet As Can Be.
Ceramics Fill The Room,
One Rabbit At A Time.
Ancient Stories Loom,
As She Cans Out A Rhyme.
Dainty Fingers Punch The Buttons,
As Chunky Ones Lick The Spoon.
She Smiles, And Glances About The Room.
A Wiff Of Her Here,
And A Gust Of Her There,
Her Presence Lives On,
Far Past The Great Beyond.

The Last Resident
This story took place in the spring of 2018, when my friend and I were 21 years old. We had met in high school and bonded over our shared love of outdoor adventure. There's an old railroad-turned-gravel trail that winds through the heavy forests and valleys near our midwestern town for over 10 miles.
