"They're" at it again.

It's time to divide.

Israel vs. Palestine:

Now choose a side.

*'*

WAIT.

STOP.

Before choosing a side:

Did you know, a few months ago,

They were working toward peace?

*'*

What's happening is horrible.

No question.

No argument.

^keeping that in mind...

*'*

^STILL keeping that in mind...

How does killing innocents, in reprisal, make any sense?

How does killing innocents 'right' the above^referenced wrong?

Could someone please walk us through that math?

*'*

Human life

is

Human life.

Palestinians and Israelis are both Humans.

*'*

Palestinians and Israelis are BOTH. HUMANS.

*'*

Who benefits from war?

The makers of the guns.

Who loses from peace?

The makers of the guns.

*'*

Now ^that^ is some easy math.

*'*

How do you know if you are being manipulated by propaganda?

Here's an easy checklist:

  • Is this issue a human rights issue?
  • Are there humans on both sides of this issue?
  • Do I believe that one side is less human - and therefore more worthy of suffering - than the other?

*'*

If your answer to all 3 questions of the checklist was: Yes

Congratulations! You are being manipulated by propaganda.

Your mind has been taken over by mass media and you are officially thinking just like they (and their agenda) want you to!

You are not thinking by/for yourself. Your views are not unique. Your opinions are not insightful. You are thinking according to programming.

*'*

How can you reclaim your mind back from programming?

Here's an easy checklist:

  • Ask yourself how many options you see are being presented in a situation such as this one.
  • Now find a different one. Find an option the media is not presenting in their conversations. (This is not as hard as it sounds - there are thousands of options, the media habitually presents two, both of which are guaranteed to be divisive and contrary. This is what sells advertising and keeps people in fear and overwhelm, making them/you easy to control/manipulate.)
  • Ask yourself: Why is this alternate option I just (rather easily) came up with not being talked about on the news/internet?
  • Really... Deeply... ask yourself ^that^ question.
  • Understand that you have just been given the key to jailbreaking your mind.
  • If desired: Repeat the above process until you have freed yourself from the infantile game that is our society.
  • Pay it forward - not by freeing others with your words. But by living free. Live free of the influences and programming of society. Let your living example be your teaching.

Missed this. But I very much appreciate what you're saying here. Thank you for spelling out our proclivity toward propaganda and arming us with tools for breaking out of that cycle. I don't think people realize just HOW manipulative our news is these days. And you're right -- dehumanization is the root of most, if not all, war. That's why it's evil. That we haven't developed beyond that tactic is baffling to me. And it just leads to more tragedy.

Missed this one too...I mentioned it in one of my poems a month ago back too...it's insanity trusting just the media. Having an opinion that is just shaped by the media is a path that only leads to hatred being bred and favouritism etc. I always try to use more than just mainstream media...especially when it's hot topics like this. Mohammed Darasi wrote a very interesting piece on the conflict and how there is lots of misinformation that makes one side look better than the other etc. I've always felt the same about this specific conflict, there are innocents on each side...there not so innocent people on each side...it's not about the people...I tend to take the people of a country as separate from the leaders/government and the armed forces for said country. The government, as we know from our own countries, are hardly ever representative of the entire population and even when they are, not every issue is agreed upon. It's a messy old business. So, I'm glad that you used your very firm, but tactful voice to address the elephant in the room about this conflict. Well done!

  • I don't understand and will never understood the need for war. We're all humans, living on the same planet. I don't understand the greed for territories. Some humans are so dumb. Loved your poem!
