"The little robin could take up space confidently"

An American Robin perched

on a leafless bough,

seemingly content

with its place,

spreads its wings,

left to right,

and takes flight,

exposing its body,

the colors that lay hidden

surprising those who didn't believe

the little robin could take up space confidently

while soaring through the air.

I have a deep fascination with birds and I love watching them fly around outside my window. I've always marveled at how confidently these little creatures can take off for flight and I've dreamed about what it would feel like to be as awesome – this poem is a product of that curiosity.
