Like Snow
A Haiku
This is a Haiku. According to Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haiku) a Haiku is a type of short form poetry originally from Japan. Traditional Japanese haiku consists of three phrases that contain a kireji, or "cutting word", 17 on (phonetic units similar to syllables) in a 5, 7, 5 pattern, and a kigo, or seasonal reference. Similar poems that do not adhere to these rules are generally classified as senryū.
According to NSIDC (https://nsidc.org/cryosphere/snow) Snow is precipitation in the form of ice crystals. It originates in clouds when temperatures are below the freezing point (0 degrees Celsius, or 32 degrees Fahrenheit), when water vapor in the atmosphere condenses directly into ice without going through the liquid stage. Once an ice crystal has formed, it absorbs and freezes additional water vapor from the surrounding air, growing into a snow crystal or snow pellet, which then falls to Earth.
This is my Haiku about yearning for the beauty of snow.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
You are like the snow.
Cold, wild, uncalculated,
beautiful with spikes
full of thorns that melts
expeditiously with heat.
Gently and sweetly
covering my space
everywhere, like a blanket
in my mind, shiver
down my spine, writhing
looking for the heat in me.
I melt with you here.
