Scrolling past images of perfect vessels,

The endless farce of fickle creatures,

Updating the skin deep desires of physicality.

Lies disguised as truths to please others.

The eyes betray; the mind conditions,

Mankind resembles plastic and glitter.

Those who offer deception for ocular pleasure.

Praised for their expensive lies and worshipped.

Most of those who look on the exterior shell,

Time proves the inevitable revelations.

True beauty is hidden under the thin veneer.

True ugliness cracks the ill-fitted mask.

Ideas of loveliness and mesmerizing moldings.

Youthfulness is beauty and fleetingly easy.

Past a certain prime the inner takes over,

Expensive cosmetics falsely buy more time.

The most beautiful image rarely seen,

A vessel and features matured and simple.

A face a map of life’s journey through change.

A body that has nurtured, carried, and adapted.

The lovely creature at the corner by the store,

Admiring the models on the billboards up above.

She glances her reflection as she walks on,

Fearing to see the parts of herself that isn’t like the model shown.

Open up like you’ve never seen you before,

For you never have before until now.

Take away the images in your head that are untrue.

Admire your uniqueness staring back at you.

Close your eyes and now look again,

Deep inside where you can find the real treasure unappreciated.

It waits to shower you in what makes you shine brighter,

Allow it to come forward as you dare to be different.

Plastic Barbie’s melt when exposed to sunshine.

Others might complain when it exposed their inner fragility.

Show them all of the heat and vibrancy in strength,

Let them feel the warmth of your kind heart when they’re lost along their way.

Open your eyes and look at those who are worshipped.

Now look again deeper and harder.

You will find that nothing stirs within you,

All those sensations evoked are superficial.

Now find the ones that shine bright from within.

Those incoming stars that burn from permanence in spirit.

Now look deeper since it’s an uncommon thing.

The light that is shown has love around her to guide her and you.

Those who learn to love themselves,

Who love in spite of their flaws, their strengths, and their pasts.

Those who see others as special as well as themselves,

Help shine the beauty hidden in others.

Shine your light fierce and fearless,

Be a guiding light to those who are in the dark.

Your light connects you to yourself and you to others.

When one’s light shines bright others are able to find their own.
