In the dead of night, a knock on the door,

Sent shivers down my spine, to my core,

I opened it wide, and there to my shock,

Was a toaster, alive, ticking like a clock!

It waddled on in, with a sinister grin,

And I stood there, frozen, wondering where to begin,

It spoke in a voice, deep and low,

"I'm here to bake, a tart or a dough."

I ran for my life, in a frenzied flight,

But the toaster pursued, with all its might,

I tripped and fell, to my great dismay,

And the toaster was upon me, in a flash of gray.

But just as it was about to strike,

It stopped, and began to dislike,

The dough in its belly, it couldn't digest,

And with that, the toaster was laid to rest.

So heed this tale, of life's absurdity,

And the horror that can come unexpectedly,

For even the smartest of machines,

Can meet their end, with a stomach full of beans!
