Life is a game

Life is a game, or so they say,

A game we all must play each day.

But sometimes it feels like a cruel joke,

A game where the rules are unknown.

We start off with hope, with dreams in our hearts,

With plans and ambitions, with a fresh start.

But as we move forward, we stumble and fall,

We face obstacles big and small.

We try to win, we try to succeed,

But sometimes our efforts are met with defeat.

We lose loved ones, we face heartbreak,

We suffer and struggle, with each step we take.

And yet we keep playing, day after day,

Hoping for a chance to find our way.

We search for meaning, for purpose and joy,

We try to make sense of the pain we employ.

But sometimes it feels like the game is rigged,

That the odds are against us, that we're just a fig.

A figure in a game that's beyond our control,

A game where our fate is already foretold.

Life is a game, but it's not a fair one,

It's a game where sometimes we're simply outdone.

But we keep playing, with hope in our hearts,

With the belief that someday we'll make a fresh start.
