Some say death gives life meaning,

Does that make life the true meaning of death?

And if that is so it is looped

Life gives us death which supposedly gives life meaning

Then why do we allow death to control our lives?

Pain gives life meaning

Happiness gives life meaning

Love gives life meaning

Hate gives life meaning

It's not some continuous flatline that we live in

For as so many have pondered,

How are we to know the highs without also knowing the lows?

How are we to feel the love without also feeling the hate?

I have looked my life in the eyes; I have looked my death in the eyes

It wasn’t profound– not some magical experience

It showed me one thing and one thing only

Life is what gives death meaning, not the other way

So live,

Do not let your own mortality define you

You will be gone, likely not too far from now

So live.

Let your life flow free and let yourself feel

Feel the highs and lows

Feel the love and hate

Understand what it is to live and love and cry and die

So that one day when you leave this place

Your death may have meaning in the life you lived.
