Letting Go

Practical side of failed relationship

Practical side of failed relationship

In the throes of passion, we took the leap,

Promising love that would never be cheap.

But soon reality began to dawn,

And our love began to wilt and fawn.

We tried to make it work with all our might,

But our efforts always seemed to fall short in sight.

The arguments grew louder, the love grew colder,

And soon we found ourselves growing bolder.

We stopped trying to make it work,

And instead chose to let our love lurk.

In the shadows of our failure, we stood,

Knowing that we did all that we could.

The practicality of our decision stung,

But we knew that it was the right thing for our hearts to be wrung.

And so we parted ways, our love having died,

But we knew that it was for the best, and we both sighed.

Sometimes love is not meant to be,

No matter how hard we try to see.

And in those moments, it's best to let it go,

And walk away from the pain, and the sorrow.

A failed relationship that began with passion but eventually fell apart. Despite their efforts to make it work, the couple realized that it was not meant to be and chose to let it go. The practicality of their decision was painful, but they knew it was for the best. The poem encourages the reader to accept the reality of failed relationships and move on from the pain and sorrow that come with them.
