Leaving
A poem about finally finding freedom in a toxic relationship.
I’m sorry did you think I was fragile? Do you honestly think you’re the first person to call me an asshole? Be honest, how many hearts have you stole? One kiss, that’s it, more addictive than some opiates. Stop talking to me. All I’ve ever wanted is to be free. Your words don’t mean a damn thing. It was only supposed to be a short fling. Don’t tell me you love me each time after you shove me. You don’t give a damn about me yet you were the only thing I could see. How are your words so pretty and your actions so mean? Shouldn’t we be on the same team? I’ve been unraveling at the seams and all I ever wanted from you was to be seen. Save your empty promises, dear. Now everything is finally clear. You don’t get to call me insane when you made me this way. Listen closely to what I have to say. I don’t want you near and you can no longer cause me any fear. Now just watch me. Holding hands with my demons, I’m finally leavin’.
