Do you crave immortality?

To outlive the world as the decades crumble,

years ticking by as seconds,

dripping past your understanding,

as the mind begins to rot,

you poor fool.

Did you dream of bountiful wisdom?

The silken skin of a nightmare,

riches, treasures and women.

Into obscurity you shall go,

as you age, decrepit husk,

you will not understand

the dreams of lesser-man,

and you will pray for the grave,

pray for a salvation,

one only a true God can bring,

and though you thought you donned his skin,

you will dissolve into nothing,

a conscious locked in a melted mind.

Doomed hubris,

is it as you dreamed?
