This is for Poppy’s prompt #10 and Mikeydred’s Octoberon prompt. Do join in the fun!

Keys are tools of discovery. They unlock doors to the self, soul, and one’s desires.

The irony of life is that when we begin to explore them, what we may not want what we desired at first. Or….we may lose parts of ourselves.

Enjoy this little nonet.

I found a key in a chest of drawers,

It opened paths to the unknown.

It pried not doors, but memories,

unlocked truths once buried,

old desires met.

But as truths freed,

parts of me

slipped through—

until

gone.
