keep your mirrors

you need them more than i do.

pity is not a cornerstone of any relationship for me; i'm not sorry anyway.

keep your unwanted 'mirrors' until you learn how to look in them yourself.

you need them and your mis-guided opinions a lot more than i ever did,

because even if i am changing my life, it won't be to model it on yours.

i'll never be someone who says i'm sorry for who i am or have been

cause i'd rather die on this mountain as my own man- never been owned-

than to live any length as yours; to validate any part of myself as you see it.

i am not asking again. i am telling you, 'i will take my peace back-

that is your capacity in my life.' so give me your worst:

manipulations and deceit; breadcrumbs, abuse, and spiritual warfare.

i am the only one who gets to choose what you mean to me- not you.

i've always owned my spirit and given all the sorries that i've owed.

i'm not sorry that i'm not sorry, and i forgive your trespasses,

but i don't expect anything between us to ever be any different.
