Just Stay
Holding On To Those We Have Lost
Just Stay
3/20/08
I sat and waited for what he had to say.
It was a message of death he had to say.
A man at peace in the end he had to say.
But why, oh why, couldn’t he just stay.
A miracle to make it better I wished to myself.
For those close to receive the comfort they need I wished to myself.
Why does it have to end this way, I wished to myself.
And why, oh why, couldn’t he just stay.
Though I wished it so, his wounds would not heal.
Though she and others prayed and hoped for it so, his wounds would not heal.
What’s done is done, there is nothing more to do, his wounds would not heal.
Yet, why, oh why, couldn’t he just stay.
We wish for him to be healed and have this all in the past.
We wish for more days to go by, each with a laugh.
We wish for more memories to make, more people to love.
But he’s gone now, to some world above.
