In the shadow of her friend,
Who she had to befriend,
Who was she really?
Just Another Girl.
----------------------------------------------
Forgotten in the shadow,
Her heart,
Heavy with the weight of being unseen,
Just like it was a forgotten dream~
----------------------------------------------
In the shadow of her friend,
Who she had to befriend,
Who was she really?
Just Another Girl.
----------------------------------------------
Fading into the background,
A ghostly figure,
Her friend takes center stage,
Growing bigger~
----------------------------------------------
The door to her room,
She walks with gloom,
Now having her own existence,
In this world of darkness~
----------------------------------------------
In the shadow of her friend,
Who she had to befriend,
Who was she really?
Just Another Girl.
----------------------------------------------

It's so difficult when this happens. I'd always prefer to have my friend in the spotlight with me, not outshine them. Because then it becomes an unbalanced friendship. So sorry this happened to you. Sending you lots of love and hugs ❤️
I know how it feels to be in the shadows of someone. Great poem! 😊
“In the World of Darkness”. Loved this poem!
Excellent.
This is stunning. Loved the repetition that gave emphasism to your feelings. An emotional piece for sure. Some people want to lift us, others want to lift themselves...well done, Kodah!
I like the way the friend both casts light and then blocks it out too.
good
Beautiful poem Kodah! 🫶
