Just a Night at the Bar
Bad Bad Leroy the Chalk Art
********************************************************************
As inspired by Jim Croce’s classic song about the town bad ass getting his butt handed to him at a bar due to messing with the wrong girl. The story is different in why it happened, but the sentiment is there.

Perhaps more
Probably less
Likely no
Maybe yes
Buy her drink?
Let me think
Empty stool
No boyfriend fool
Drinking shots
Slow, but lots
Doodling in water
Finger darts, cannon fodder
Likes country, oldies, pop
Spilled drink, needs mop
Curvy hips
Loose lips
Sunk ships?
Glances around
Every little sound
Paranoia? Fear?
Trickling single tear
Nice hair
Face fair
On her cheekbone
In her sad zone
Mascara there running down
Sad faced lovely clown
Some bruising there for sure
Maybe a bloody steak bruise cure
Victim I’d guess
Probably yes …
Possibly no …
Help her though?
Does she want it?
Might need it
Expecting him to enter
Tell from the whimper
That must be her bad boy
Crap! It’s Leroy
Is her name perchance Doris?
Bad day, I’d take on Chuck Norris
So much for Jim Croce
Need to stomp another roachy
Her eyes go wide
Body hunched protectively aside
Knees taut
Hard fought
Guess she left his bullying ass
Leroy is known to be crass
There he goes walking up
She’s a cringing wounded pup
Leroy yells
Girl tells
Takes breath deep
Reddened eyes no longer weep
“No. I’ll stay just the same”
“Never take your last name”
“Go away Leroy ”
“I’m not your punching toy”
Brave lass, give her props
Let’s hope a’hole drops
Grips her glass in a fist
Wants his forehead to be kissed
Grabs her arm
Intending harm
“Excuse me Leroy”
“She’s not your punching toy”
“I heard the no, you did too”
“It’s not feeding time at the zoo”
Leroy turns, looks me over
He’s a scrapper, not a lover
“Mind your own,” turns back
Common sense Leroy does lack
When Leroy hit the sidewalk
Made nice art, crimson chalk
Walked her to her brother’s place
Relief plain on her face
She left a number and name
She seems to be a good dame
I love damsel in distress
Imperiled Pauline in roped dress
On the tracks yelling help
If answered, won’t review on Yelp
My gut always makes me step in
Protective instinct not sin
Back to my drink, watered down
Leroy’s gone, the stupid clown
