Knowing when its time to say goodbye

So often you made me cry, your anger like a whip

lashing out without care. Your words struck my core

searing flesh from bone.

My love died a slow death, till one day it was no more

and I no longer could stay.

I needed to save myself, 'cause no one else would.

So, I told you I'm leaving. Wanted nothing from you.

Now what's with this turnabout?

Saying you've changed and you need me to stay?

If you'd been a little bit kind, when I needed your love

You took a little bit less, and left something for me.

Then when you're beggin' me please,

Don't leave me here all alone, I might feel something for you...

Maybe just a little bit.

Your pleading can't reach me. It falls on deaf ears.

I've walled myself against you, can't afford to let down my gaurd.

You're too big a risk now.

There's no trust left between us. You've taken more than your share,

that I need to think of me now.

Start the journey to heal. Make a life without you in it.

So don't tell me it's selfish, to walk out that door.

I don't know what journey awaits me, but anything's better than this.

You've changed me to my core.

If you'd been a little bit kind, when I needed your love

You took a little bit less, and left something for me.

Then when you're beggin' me please,

Don't leave me here all alone, I might feel something for you...

Maybe just a little bit.
