Jalapeño Pepper

A joyous poem at the success of the garden

I know what victory feels like

I haven’t won many fights

But the sun ripened vines

Bring joy to mind

I know love’s careful care

Hands callused, arms bare

The opportunity to share

But eat it, I don’t dare

I know perseverance

Taking a chance

On weather and unweathered hands

More talent than at first glance

I know what is a heart

A warm beat at the start

The Earth’s local mart

Loaded into my cart

I know unbridled joys

Hopefulness given a voice

Earth’s jewels the wind’s toys

All my being makes joyful noise

I know what is accomplishment

Hard work’s deserved achievement

The successful establishment

In the ground of life sustainment
