In our bellies

a poem

We walk with fire in our bellies,

love in our minds,

and drums in our hearts.

We are strong beyond the might of arms.

We are on our way.

Always.

We are made for moving.

To move our bodies,

to move our minds,

to move to tears,

to move to laughter.

To be those free wild beings they told us to fear.

When we move with the waters flowing,

or with the winds,

we move howling, dancing, breathing.

We are those free wild beings,

inside-out and out-side in.
