If Looks Could Deceive

Worlds and Lungs Collapsing

You looked at me

Like it didn’t hurt

Like I wasn’t broken

On the ground

At your feet

You looked at me

Like I was whole

Like I was equal

You didn’t look at me

Like I was poetry

Or raging oceans

Or the night sky

But that was okay

You just looked at me

Like I was enough

And it was the way

I needed to be looked at

The world has collapsed

And your lungs along with it

I look at you like

You are broken on

The ground at my feet

And you look at me

Like it hurts
