I wonder

if the dead

attend their own funerals.

.

Do they come back

just to see

who doesn’t cry

and who brings

the wrong kind

of flowers?

.

Because I didn’t cry,

nor did I bring

her favorite flowers.

.

I thought

she was liberated

from this world.

.

I hope she

doesn’t come back

to see this

clown show of a funeral.

.

In fact,

I hope

she never ever

comes back.

.

Be anything,

be everything,

just not a mother,

not a wife,

not a sister,

not a daughter.

.

Be anywhere,

be everywhere,

just not here.
