I.
You’re going to need a mountain
to listen, not to climb
You’re going to need a Monk
to seek, not to find
In all the current madness
the world is full of friends
He will lead the searchers
unto the very ends
There will be many a diversion
many a first excursion
you need to pick which clue
which to follow through
Although the quest is fantastic
it is all the same too real
first travel in the mind
then later in flying steel
II.
One last look
it’s time to make a pledge
time to go out on a ledge
and cry I Will Fly!
Look again before the Quest
to here you will return
Between the windmills
Monk and mountain
you will finally discern
(clearly written here unseen)
the Artifact of Yearning
taking flight, soaring
Time flies just like you will
...
OK, I understand Vocal is a long format publishing platform: and having been rejected by an algorith that can only allow 600 words or more, I now have added more! This piece is now a composite of the first two parts plus extras. Not ideal, but it’s the only way to get started here.
It is an invite to Quest for an artifact somewhere near the ends of the earth, and by doing so help the airline, travel and hospitality industries that have been layed low by the Pandemic (among many other sectors).
Hope is endangered - the Artifact of Yearning is the protector and conserver it needs to keep glowing.
What and where is the Artifact I hope you ask, but the answer can only be found in the Quest - by following the hints and clues and cues.
The truth is, no matter how many people misspell, there is no Artifact - only the Artefact!
Early clues
I. First step of the first excursion
Monk, Mountain
Above the Monk, above the Mountain - above the madness - soars the Artefact of Yearning. You will find him at the ends of the earth, your Antipodes.
You can only fly there now in your mind but later for real.
Post II. One last look before the quest...
Clue: Windmills, not in your mind
Even above the Artefact flying in the sky, are the Windmills - someone take a tilt, somewhat Quixotically.
In the meantime, you can find the Quest across different platforms, in the short format as intended - #IWillFly #bookofclues
Dedication
To all the people impacted by the global downturn in tourism - all the travel people, all the airline people, all the tourism business people, all the places all but bare of guests, all the destinations anxiously waiting and running out of time, all the hospitality workers laid off and those that are missed - and all the grounded travellers yearning to get back in the air and bring back their now more cherished custom to all of the above:
I Will Fly!
