Human Cave

Rarity In Times of Suffocation

By WiñaiPublished about a year ago 1 min read
Keeping with the decorum

Sitting behind a desk or hammering away

Keeping the soul enclosed in fray

There's the boss and colleagues demure in behavior

look closely, and you can see them longing for a savior

Maybe Jesus? or other gods?

No, you feel even more trapped and against the odds

Out with friends?

No, one slight jerk in conduct and you are seen as one that offends

But family is love and caring for most, right?

Yes, indeed, to those who have been brought in the light

For some, a family is as dark as a January winter night

For the rest good conduct kills freedom like the blight

Pretend

attend

amend

You don't want those who love you to suffer

you speak and act like life has made you tougher

You want to get away from all these pretenses

all this brutal confinement that crushes the senses

Freedom and liberty is rare

Less so in despot governments

ruling with no covenants

In parts more cosmopolitan problems are of the first world

anxiety, depression, mania, alcoholism, drugs have you in a whirl

Fact is most are here for work and a better life

crossing the Rio Grande coming to a land with a different strife

work and age until the internal clock stops ticking

Some cannot take it so end up quitting

Oh Gods, Cosmos lead me to that that is rare

Being oneself, free from scrutiny, let my spirit bare

Afford me time and patience so that with nature I can share

flash me a sign at the end of the cave with a flare

Lead the men and women free from despair

Is there a society less polluted than our current air?

Unshackle me from Plato's cave and make me aware
