How The Light Shines In

A note of encouragement for those in the rubble.

My photo of the stained glass in St. John's Cathedral in Spokane, WA, United States.

I don't know, love.

Maybe the glass shattered in such a way that it could never be what it was.

Maybe that's okay. Maybe that's what was needed.

But what I do know, love, is that the work of piecing all that's left back together looks like a team effort, looks like learning to use new tools, looks like something holy imbued in every little shard.

Maybe returning to the Before will never happen. Maybe the Before shouldn't be our goal.

Maybe the After looks like a stained glass window.

Maybe the Now looks like making the art.

I believe we will get there, love.

We will.

We are making stained glass masterpieces out of the shards of our Befores, out of all that used to be.

And I can't wait to see how the light shines in.
