Hope, Moon, Airplane

The following piece consists of several haikus, including: "A Hope of Man", "Airplane", and "Moon". Each follows the traditional 5,7,5 syllable structure of a haiku and speaks to the wonder and beauty of the heavens - as well as to the machines which, for a time, call them home.

A Hope of Man

Rocketing skyward,

a great new age lifts itself.

Fly rockets of hope!

Moon

Lovely, lonely Moon,

shining light to grateful earth.

Staying bright a while?

Airplane

Like a dove, the plane

casts its magical shadows

over lands below.

Sun

Radiant above,

softly gleaming - an expanse

lit with rays of hope.

Rocket Engine

Massive with power -

majestic, cohesive, lifts

upwards from our earth.

Satellite

Made to soar above

higher than the earth or clouds,

as only a light.

Galaxy

Beyond reach or ken,

stars glimmer and share stories.

Come, tell us your tales
