a poem celebrating earth and calling us home

i lay down the heaviness

i let the earth hold me

let mother nature take care of me

for a moment,

we share in the weight of the world

like old friends having coffee together

i ask her,

why is the weight so heavy?

she responds,

“my darling child,

think of water,

which can carry the weight of your being

only when there is enough.”

earth is our mother

& we must take care of her

as she takes care of us

she has given us

flowers,

oceans,

trees,

rainbows,

kinship,

life,

you

-all manifestations of love

i manifest love back

by treating earth kindly,

animals respectfully,

life lovingly

join me-

we can pool together as water does

let us share the weight

together, we can carry it

as we are responsible for it.
