Here Comes The Sun, Are You Ready?

The mist hung in hopeful expectation

as the dew kissed each blade with romance

Nature plays her games with slight indignation

never willing to give true love a chance

Torn by the beauty around her

though she could not forget what he'd done

Never again trusting an amatuer lover

with a new twist on "here comes the sun"

This morning, as he leans out his window

to feel the kiss of the sun on his face

She approached it with vague innuendo

and put betelgeuse there, in its place

So instead of the sweet smell of petrichor

if it's love you are willing to wager

As your face melts away you'll hear her snicker

cause it's not nice to fool with mother nature

A/N

Replacing our Sun with Betelgeuse would instantaneously vaporize Earth. As a red supergiant that is up to \(1,400\) times larger than our Sun, placing it at the center of the solar system would cause the star to stretch well past the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.

Also, the photo was taken this morning by my good friend Michelle Dickey. She and I work together in an office, but her true gift is photography. I will be using it again in a different kind of poem. Thank you Michelle for sharing your amazing talent with me!
